Custom Decks Built for Moore County Homes
Moore County homeowners tend to ask for composite decking and covered decks: low maintenance for retirees and part-time residents, and shade for the long golf-season afternoons. Many Pinehurst and Southern Pines neighborhoods also have architectural review boards, and we prepare the drawings they ask for.
We build pressure-treated wood and composite decks, multi-level and pool decks, and covered and enclosed decks with the roof tied into your house and flashed so it never leaks. Every deck gets footings below the frost line, a properly flashed ledger board, and code-compliant railings and stairs.
Permits and Inspections in Moore County
An attached deck in Moore County needs a building permit and footing, framing and final inspections from Moore County Planning & Inspections (and the Village of Pinehurst or Town of Southern Pines for addresses inside those limits). We submit the application the week you sign, meet the inspector at each stage, and prepare any drawings your HOA or architectural review board asks for. Permit turnaround is usually the longest part of the schedule, so we start it first.
Wood or Composite?
Pressure-treated pine is the most affordable option and looks great with a stain every few years. Composite decking from Trex or TimberTech costs more up front but never needs staining, will not splinter and stands up to Sandhills humidity. We price both side by side so you can decide.
Covered and Enclosed Decks
Shade matters here from May through September. A covered deck adds a shingle or metal roof over part or all of the deck; an enclosed deck adds screen panels and a screen door so you can sit outside at dusk without mosquitoes. Many of our Moore County projects combine an enclosed section off the back door with an open deck beyond it for the grill. If you already have a covered deck or porch, we can screen it in; we do not pour concrete, so any slab has to already be there.
